The light at the end of the tunnel…

Some of you may have noticed, others may not, but there has been a definite drought in my blogosphere. Again, some of you may have picked up on the occasional slip of the tongue, others may not, but Mr Point Five has been ill, at some points quite desperately, over the past 6 months. I haven’t wanted to put it all out there on here, as the questions from concerned town-folk were enough to spiral me around the rim of depression with no good news to report for months on end. I became a hermit, stopped attending casual get togethers,...

Missing in Action: an explanation.

First it was one, then two and now three. Three emails/messages in the past month from readers wanting to know if I’m OK because they had noticed a change in my blog/presence since we have moved to our new town. I know I have been a little slack quiet in the blogging department and I do try to keep my facebook page ticking over and interactive so you are updated with our news. My blog is basically an extension of a facebook status; when my updates become too lengthy for facebook, I pop them over onto the blog.  My blog posts...

A mini ranty pants – then as you were.

Its a funny thing, this decision to blog and put parts of your life out on the public arena. I started off as a humour inspired blog, with this post being my first, nearly four years ago. Then along the way, thanks to certain people IRL who read here who didn’t “get” my humour and crucified me personally for the cheeky way I view my marriage and motherhood, I kinda lost my funny mojo and those posts dwindled away. Sometimes I will relive a topic that tickled my funnybone and blog it, but its not often. I was at a loose...

Behind the Badge – RUOK?

I recently came across some statistics on police suicide which I wanted to share with you. In 2006, suicide attributed to about of all deaths in Australia. From 1990-2005, approximately 20% of all Police Officer deaths (in NSW) were attributed to suicide*. Does that freak you out? Freaks me out. To make this figure worse, police are psychologically screened before they are accepted into the academy so they are predispositioned to be more “stable” than the general population. More police die from suicide than the felons they are being attacked by. I actually have a higher chance of losing my husband to...

Pawthos in Pictures; 2006-2014

Not long after Mr Point Five and I met we were at the shops and there was a sign for a Jack Russell in the window of a pet store. Hubby turned to me and said with these puppy eyes I have always wanted a Jack Russell and I know what I would call him: Pawthos. Needless to say, we came to the shops sans canine and went home with an extra heart on board. Scuse the grainy pics – these were taken on my not so smart phone back in...

The Black Dog or the Yellow Lab – How can you tell??

So you may have noticed that my blog posts have been few and far between lately. I am going to be honest – I have kinda lost my mo-jo and its been really hard to pick exactly when it happened….. I used to blog “funny” but lately I just cant seem to tickle my humour bone to save myself. Lately most of my posts are introspective or ranty and whilst I know you all love a good ranty-pants post, I would love to get back to my core blog basic which was of the humorous parent/marriage genre. I THINK...

What if Today was the last day you had?

I was watching the News last night and I haven’t been able to stop thinking today about one of the stories. It was about a young man who got pushed out of a window in a Pub and died. Over a year later, his parents were being interviewed. They said “we love our son more deeply now than we ever have“. I cant stop those words going round and round in my head. How sad is it that you can love your child more when they are gone? I want to love my child to the absolute height,...

Ranty Pants Alert – Breastfeeding at FIVE, damage control.

I think we all have our own opinions and ideas as Mothers on when we should stop breastfeeding, if we choose to breastfeed at all. Its a decision that we all make and it is ours alone to make. We also live in a country where it is not the social “norm” to breastfeed your child beyond the World Health Organisation recommended age of two. Whether you agree or not with the mothers below who practise extended breastfeeding is irrelevant really; they are doing it (assumedly) in the privacy of their own home and is of no concern to us. My...
