White Chocolate Mousse Easter Eggs with Curd Filling
To give credit where credit is due this idea was not my own. I was inspired by this post but I thought I would improvise a little. I had just made an Easter Cheesecake for Mr Point Five to take to work so I was kinda over the whole cheesecake thing so I thought to make a white chocolate mousse instead to masquerade as the egg white. This is the recipe I used. Ingredients 4 egg yolks 1/4 cup sugar 1 cup thickened cream 1 cup white baking chips 1 1/2 cups whipping cream Directions Beat egg yolks in small bowl with electric mixer on...
Happy Easter Shmeaster
Despite the honour and privilege of being married to a Boy in Blue, the pain-in-the-arse times are definitely all the public holidays and special occasions during the year that I am left stagging it with the kids. Sadly, our emergency/shift workers etc. always work when others are out having fun; where there is alcohol and car travel involved, it is generally a really busy time for our boys. Most public holidays Mr Point Five does 12 hour plus shifts, and over a festive period such as the four day Easter “holiday” we hardly even see him. It wouldn’t be so bad if...
Our Easter Tree
This will be the fourth year we have done an Easter Tree. I had never heard of them until I met my first husband whose sister had married a German fella – apparently Easter Trees are a common European Tradition and if you google the term Easter Tree you will find heaps; all based on using a twiggy branch and decorating with eggs. I thought it would be a nice tradition to do once we had kids, and so on the second weekend before Easter we put up our Easter Tree with much anticipation and delight. It is where we...
Santa and the gang are no lie.
So, I had a few comments on my Easter Bunny post that I was lying to my children by telling them about Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy. Apparently by doing this I was also encouraging my children to lie to me as I seemed to find untruths acceptable. Here is my answer as to why Mr Point Five and I choose to procreate such myths….. Our kidlets, as I’m sure do most of yours, watch fairy tales and cartoons on the TV. If not, I am sure they read the books and turn pages with wonder. You can see their...
Easter Bunny? Are you for real???
So we were in the shops yesterday and we see the Easter Bunny. I take the boys over for a happy snap. We get home and I am excitedly telling hubby that the boys saw the Easter Bunny today. G Man (just turned five) pipes up – that wasn’t the Easter Bunny mummy. That was a man. I felt his arms. My heart sinks…..This is the first Easter that he has really grasped the whole concept of the EB and I couldn’t bear it if it ended before it began. So it was a man dressed up to LOOK like the Easter Bunny was...
