2016 – its a wrap.

2016 has been a mixed bag for our family; some hits and some misses but we are steadily putting one foot in front of the other and moving forward together. Mr Point Five has been off with hand surgery and other worries for part of this year, so not the best year for him as he hates being on the sidelines and much prefers to be in the thick of his policing so to speak. 2017 is going to be a better year for him professionally I hope. The boys have had a wonderful year at school; they are so...

The honeymoon is over….

So the holidays are over, school went back today and I am still unemployed. Today has been the first day that I have dropped the boys to school and come home all by myself. I have to say I didn’t like it and I am busting to get back to work. I feel like a bludger being at home and I have no tolerance for housework. Mr Point Five is at a conference in a neighbouring town for the next two days and I am aimlessly wandering around at home. There are crafty things I COULD be doing but I...

Bits and Pieces

So, we are back from our little 2 week holiday; arriving home to 46C and no power was a sheer JOY I can tell you! Our house LOOKS like it would be cool, but bake those limestone blocks in 40+ temps for over two weeks with no inside cooling and it was a veritable oven!! The walls literally radiated heat from the inside. Mr Point Five is back at work and the boys have started school again for 2015 which means I am also back at work; no rest for the wicked. Hiccup did a runner on us whilst we were...

Birds and the Bees – HELP!

So, I was picking up G Man (aged 6) from school last week and I happened to mention that I was going out as soon as we got home to pick Hiccup up from the vets. Why is Hiccup at the vets G Man asks. Well, I say, we took him in to have an operation. What sort of operation? Hiccup is having an operation so that he cant have any baby cats I tell him confidently, feeling that was going to be the end of the conversation. *ten seconds silence* Mummy, how do cats have babies? *cue...

Mega Bloks is NOT Lego

For the uninitiated MOB’s or Halo minded girls, a word from the wise. From the blistered fingered and jagged fingernailed wise mother who made a mistake out shopping last week. MEGA BLOKS is not LEGO. Now, it is cunningly disguised as LEGO and to cast an idle eye over it, it certainly pulls the deception off, but don’t let it fool you. Don’t be sucked in by its knobbly likeness. This fucker is NOT Lego and you will curse your decision to let it into your house. THIS is LEGO – see, where it says LEGO in the top left hand corner?...

Losing my Tradition

As the Australia Day long weekend finishes, I am thinking that one of the things I miss most about moving house all the time , is not having any traditions anymore. It really does suck.   When I was a little girl, we lived in the same house until I was thirteen and my parents split up. Even though it all changed that year, I have such beautiful and fond memories of our family traditions until then.   Our Christmas tree that we had selected fresh each year always stood in the same spot. We celebrated Christmas with the same people...

Marrying Mr Point Five

So if you have loved me long time, you will know how I met Mr Point Five. If you are a newbie, you can catch up on the story here – its worth it, I’ll wait. Then there is the story of how we got engaged I proposed to him. Yep, I’ll wait again…… It was April when I popped the question and we were officially affianced. Upon consultation with my best friend at the time (sad story you can read here) who was a pharmacist, and of course asking google as well, we made the decision to go off...

A little story about A Country Practice.

This is kind of a random post but I wanted to share a huge laugh I had with the other girls at work on Monday just now.  I work (on a VERY casual basis when Mr Point Five is rostered to be home mid week to look after the kidlets) at the local Council here in my tiny town of Cranbrook WA. As you can see on the link, the population of our little town along with two neighbouring town sites which make up the shire is approximately 1100 people. Cranbrook itself is prolly around half of this, so about 600...
