Woe-Is-Me

So I was surfing facebook this morning and a status by Kerri Sackville  popped into my feed. “Research question for an article I’m writing: If someone wants to be your friend but you don’t wish to pursue the friendship, do you feel a bit guilty? Do you say ‘no thanks’ or do the whole ‘sure, let’s catch up’ and then never follow up thing????“ See their answers #8230; All of a sudden I felt like crying. THIS was what was happening to me, I was sure of it. We moved to this town five months ago and yesterday I was...

RUOK? How my job might affect someone you love.

I seem to be on a Community Service Post roll at the moment…. I want to take a minute of your time to let you know what I do as a job at the moment and how it could affect someone you love. Do you have a relative, perhaps elderly or down on their luck, who owns their own home, perhaps with a mortgage? Are they struggling with their bills? Would they tell you if they were? I think we all know what happens if we don’t pay our gas bill; the gas company cuts off our gas....

Behind the scenes – Don’t let comparison steal your joy.

Recently I saw some blog posts from some absolutely gorgeous bloggers (not naming names) showing off parts of their houses that I would never dream of showing you in full of my house. There were kitchens, laundry’s, the insides of their FRIDGES FFS!! They were so embarrassed to show them, as in “please forgive my beautiful mess” but guess what?? They were perfect. No mess in sight. Well, nothing that I would call mess. You could hear me fake gagging as I read the posts, rolling my eyes and thinking Bitch,  Puh-LEASE!!   Now I could feel bad and...

101 Positions, 102 Excuses.

How much time do you get Home Alone?? I got half a day about three months ago and I was so excited I spent the entire time cleaning our house FFS!!! Before that it was before G-Man was born, so about five and a half years ago. Serious. I have come to the conclusion that its not healthy. Our sex life is suffering.  I initially put it down to the exhaustion that comes with having kids, I’m sure you all know what I am talking about, where your bed is more attractive than your partner. But Master J has...

The Secret Ingredient to Motherhood…..

I think one of the biggest negative over-riding feelings of motherhood that nobody ever tells you about is  RESENTMENT. The feeling that you cannot do ANYTHING on your own timetable. Your life is not your own any longer – it is dictated to by a small person who cannot be reasoned with and whose needs are primal. I know I have certainly fallen victim to resenting my children, my husband and basically my life as a whole simply because my own needs were not being met. I wouldn’t say I was ever depressed. but I can certainly see how,...

Life behind the Thin Blue Line – a novella :)

I think the first time I had a glimmer of what I was getting in to was about six months after Mr Point Five and I had met. He had just started at the academy and I had just handed my driver’s licence in for three months as I had accumulated one point too many. Aherm. It was the first Saturday afterwards and I grabbed my keys to duck down to our local Coles which were literally 200m at the bottom of our street.  Hubby looked at me, dumbstruck. What on earth do you think you are doing? he asked. I explained...

I want a pink one so badly it hurts.

Today is Thursday. This means I have 4 days to contemplate a family of five before starting another cycle. Then there are three more cycles before my 40th birthday which for some reason is when the deadline in my head is to stop contemplating it any further and just accept we are complete as a family of four. And we are complete. At least I thought so. I would have driven hubby down to get the snip myself a few months ago I was so sure. Having been an only child myself, I was always set on the idea...

Get out the tissues and Hug your Children.

So yesterday I sat down to write a post about the Sleep War and how the husband always wins it. I was going to regale you with a tale of woe, and moan and bitch how us wives always have to beg and grovel for that elusive lie-in that our husbands simply expect every morning.  Its amazing how shocked they can look when we bring up the possibility that perhaps THEY could arise at sparrows fart with the kids… Nobody can feign ignorance like the male species, I swear…. I was going to write about how Mr Point Five...

You can buy an education, but you can’t buy class.

The internet should have a “warning” label on it before you log on. Enter at your own risk and only those who have thick skin shall come away unscathed.   As I am typing today, I find that I am second guessing myself a little more than I would have this time last week. After a certain bullyish “incident” I am wondering who is reading what I am writing and if my conversational tone that I have been proud of until today is “good enough”. I am asking myself, is that comma in the right spot and does that...

A disappointing week….

Two things have been bothering me this week, weighing on my mind….. The first one is THIS ARTICLE.  In a nutshell – a Reverend finds a diamond and gold bracelet, does the right thing and hands it into the police. The police hold it for two months and when it isn’t reported missing, it gets handed over to the Reverend as his rightful property. The Reverend then uses the stamps on the bracelet to find out who the bracelet “belongs” to and discovers the owners are well known Perth Restaurateurs. He comes to them and offers them the bracelet...
