You’ll never guess……we’re moving a-bloody-gain.

For those of you who read my last post this post will make more sense. Due to an unexpected health hiccup in our plans we have decided to move back to the big smoke on a permanent basis, where city policing is significantly different from regional policing and a position can be found for Mr Point Five that is more suited for him and our family at this time. So after leaving Perth straight after his academy graduation in August 2007; six towns, eight houses and 10 years later, we are finally moving back “home”. G Man who is finishing year 4 this...

The House that keeps on giving – part TWO

Guess what?? We are moving town AGAIN! Yes, this will be our 6th town/7th complete house move in just over 8 years. INSANE. Following my last blog post and a few “well placed emails” last Sunday, and after 5 weeks of suitcase living, within 48 hours we were offered 4 options for our future. One was not really a viable option and the other two involved us doing a complete house move within town, with no option to move back into our beautiful heritage home much before Easter, if at all. The fourth option, after only 12 months of living here, was...

Diagnosis? STRESS.

The decision to move to our new town was made in less than ten minutes.  Mr Point Five rang me at work to tell me there was a position vacant; we had to apply within ten minutes or it would be an opportunity lost. I knew the town by reputation only and said no way in hell are we moving there. He outlined the benefits, both financial and promotional. It would only be for two years. I made one phone call to the school and another to the town CRC; despite what I had heard, both were very positive...

The Final Push 2014.

I cannot believe we are finally here! This time last fortnight we were two days away from prepack, mentally preparing for 10 days of hell. Monday  10th November we had the packers in our house packing everything we owned into boxes. The trick is to be one step ahead of them and make sure you have 2 suitcases on your bed which are sacred. In these you pack the TV remotes, Fist Aid supplies, kids stuff for 10 days, your stuff for 10 days, 2 coffee cups, a teaspoon, 2 forks, knives and plates, sugar and a jar of instant coffee. Ask...

Five towns in Seven years.

When people first find out my husband is a police officer of of the first questions they generally ask is Ohhhhh, what’s that like?? To be honest I don’t exactly know how to answer them. I don’t know what they want to hear. Stories about handcuffs and drug deals gone bad? We have only ever lived country since Mr Point Five joined up; we have never lived in the city as a police couple. My only experience of being a his Wife was as a country coppers wife as we got married at our first posting 1700km away from...

Moving on up….moving on out……

So, if most of you follow me on facebook, you will know that Mr Point Five was made up to Sergeant. 🙂 Sadly this usually means that in order to gain the promotion you have to move station. So we will have been in our current town for less than 12 months when we move again later this month or early next month (we haven’t got our actual move dates yet, but the transfer is official). How it works is that you get given the official promotion/station transfer. Then you fill in an itinerary of ALL your household items as...

#policewifelife

So I have some uber good news to share with you guys. 🙂 Yesterday Mr Point Five was accepted in the Sergeants Pool for WAPOL (Western Australian Police). I know that term is kinda obtuse so I will explain what it means. How Police promotion works in WAPOL  is that some ranks are time based, such as becoming a First Class Constable after five years of service (hubby’s current rank) and a Senior Constable after nine. After Senior Constable there is the rank of Sergeant.  A First Class Constable or a Senior Constable can apply for Sergeant. This annual promotion is achieved through putting...

Woe-Is-Me

So I was surfing facebook this morning and a status by Kerri Sackville  popped into my feed. “Research question for an article I’m writing: If someone wants to be your friend but you don’t wish to pursue the friendship, do you feel a bit guilty? Do you say ‘no thanks’ or do the whole ‘sure, let’s catch up’ and then never follow up thing????“ See their answers #8230; All of a sudden I felt like crying. THIS was what was happening to me, I was sure of it. We moved to this town five months ago and yesterday I was...

Moving – not just houses but towns. All. The. Time.

So, as you know we move house. A lot. In fact, this is our 5th move and 4th new town in just over six years. This move was perhaps our best one for us personally as a couple, in that we only fought a handful of times and came out the other end still talking to each other with a wry smile 🙂 Only once did Mr Point Five say ” I HATE moving with you” which I consider to be a win and a sign that I am improving on my stress levels of moving 🙂 On the...
