Happy Easter Shmeaster

Despite the honour and privilege of being married to a Boy in Blue, the pain-in-the-arse times are definitely all the public holidays and special occasions during the year that I am left stagging it with the kids.  Sadly, our emergency/shift workers etc. always work when others are out having fun; where there is alcohol and car travel involved, it is generally a really busy time for our boys. Most public holidays Mr Point Five does 12 hour plus shifts, and over a festive period such as the four day Easter “holiday” we hardly even see him.  It wouldn’t be so bad if...

Public Service Announcement – please read.

F is for Facebook; where you share intimate photos of your family and friends to…well, hopefully your family and friends.   P is for Paedophiles; who trawl facebook for intimate photos of family and friends. I am writing this because yesterday I had pop up in my newsfeed ticker in facebook that one of my friends had “become friends” with another person. I was bored, nosey curious so I clicked on the link to this person and my stomach fell through the floor. I wont repost the picture as it would entirely defeat the purpose of this post,...

I'll tell you what's obscene….. Jealousy, double standards and hypocrisy at Mama Mia

Can I tell you what really pisses me off? Hypocrisy and double standards.   Mama Mia has managed to do both this week with THIS shameful post from Rebecca Sparrow, a Mum herself.   According to Rebecca at MM, only women with post baby flabby tummies are allowed to post selfies on the internez. Also, despite actively encouraging ALL new mums to post pictures of their “real” post baby bodies in THIS article, the photo below of fitness blogger Caroline Eriksen was deemed by MM to be obscene. Yes, MM actually used the word OBSCENE about a new mothers body.   Where exactly does MM get off saying such...

Rape doesn’t happen in Utopia.

Unless you have been living under a cyber rock today you would have read this article by Mia Freedman, which basically says that women going out and getting drunk puts them at a greater risk of being raped. And then this in reply by Kerri Sackville which disagrees with the above article by saying alcohol doesn’t cause rape, rapists do and that there shouldn’t even be a link between the two. I have to say whilst I can see Kerri’s point that a woman is never responsible for her own rape, I also agree with Mia that there are certain factors...

Sexism in the Workforce and why WE are to blame.

(picture sourced from ) Q. What is more futile than pushing a pile of runny shit uphill with a pitchfork? A. Trying to get equal representation of men and women in management roles in the workforce. Never gonna happen. I’ll tell you why. OK – riddle me this. You need a new car. You find two exact same models but one is cheaper. Which one do you buy? Well duh, the cheaper one yes?? We aren’t stupid. Apart from the odd what I like to call “free-range egg value” where we agree to pay a little more for a...

"Equality" doesn’t equal "Same"

This picture has been floating around the internet for a while now. I am guessing it is being purported by Labor Supporters in the hope of inflaming all the feminists out there on the PC sexism Bandwagon. And its working because all the comments I see wherever it is posted are all like “that’s terrible”, “how dare he”, “so sexist”, “such a misogynist” .  Predictable yadda yadda yadda. I think its hilarious, because I actually agree with Tony. You can actually substitute the word Women for Men in his statement and it would be just as true. In fact,...

You can buy an education, but you can’t buy class.

The internet should have a “warning” label on it before you log on. Enter at your own risk and only those who have thick skin shall come away unscathed.   As I am typing today, I find that I am second guessing myself a little more than I would have this time last week. After a certain bullyish “incident” I am wondering who is reading what I am writing and if my conversational tone that I have been proud of until today is “good enough”. I am asking myself, is that comma in the right spot and does that...

Jumping to Conclusions is not a Sport.

Yesterday on my page I posted a question from a reader about fringes and haircuts. It was for a laugh and I thought with over 3000 of you, we may get some good answers and some fun. What I didn’t expect to get however was JUDGEMENT. Judgement by a fellow reader of the person asking the question. A conclusion drawn that from this question, the person asking was being silly, wasn’t doing anything worthwhile and should be at least volunteering their time at a more worthwhile cause.  My reader, without knowing ANYTHING about the person asking this question, drew...

A disappointing week….

Two things have been bothering me this week, weighing on my mind….. The first one is THIS ARTICLE.  In a nutshell – a Reverend finds a diamond and gold bracelet, does the right thing and hands it into the police. The police hold it for two months and when it isn’t reported missing, it gets handed over to the Reverend as his rightful property. The Reverend then uses the stamps on the bracelet to find out who the bracelet “belongs” to and discovers the owners are well known Perth Restaurateurs. He comes to them and offers them the bracelet...
