Ten Things I love about my Husband.

Now I know I bag out Mr Point Five quite relentlessly on this blog. In fact, my Father in Law recently asked how my blog was going. I said it was going just dandy, thanks for asking. He asked if my latest post was another bad story about his son. I assured him it was – after all, where the fodder lies…… BUT There is nothing quite like hosting our little big boys fifth Birthday Party in the rain that makes me appreciate my husband more. After a emotionally tumultuous 18 months with my Dad and losing my BFF,...

Linky Blog – Brave

Linking up with Fi from My Mummy Daze for Stories of Me. This weeks Topic – Brave.   When I was a little girl, about 10 or so I think, I remember writing a poem. I still have it, in a box in storage, but one line from it (sort of from memory) reads “sitting inside, looking through my bedroom window. All my friends windows are bright and sparkly, but mine is frosted. Opaque. Smeared in dirt with cracks that I cannot stop from spreading” Or something like that anyway. You see, my Mum has been sick as long as I can remember...

Linky Blog – First Day

Linking up with Fi from My Mummy Daze for    Stories of Me.   This weeks Topic – First Day.     Deviating from the comical whimsy for a glimpse into a window of my life before Point Five came along.   My First Day after my (ex) husband left.   The story of how we got to that day is a long and windy one, but it was in Ayers Rock where we were living  and working that we decided to end our three year marriage. Somehow we had managed to get right back to where we were 18 months earlier, when...

I knew her when – Happy 40th honey!!!

Year 10 – 1988 – me on the left Meet my High School BFF. If you have been reading me for a bit you will have seen the post about my person, but this friendship was before that. That one was later and took years to fully fledge and blossom.   This was my first BFF, the one where you meet her and YOU  JUST KNOW. The first hint of sarcasm, the meeting of blue eyes that actually smiled with her laughter, the first ironic comment must have sealed the deal that first week in year 8 at high school....

Resolution shmesolution.

Oh my!! If I read another PC post on New Years Resolutions I think I may just puke.  Lets be realistic here people…whilst world peace and a permanently clean house would be nice lets focus on stuff that’s achievable for little ole me. Here is my list of things I want to do more of in 2013.  1. Improve the sex life with Mr Point Five. The poor darlings romping has slipped significantly since having kids and I am afraid the product I am offering him is not what was advertised when he accepted my proposal of marriage. I’m sure the poor bugger may have...

A Drama Queen lives here – my birth stories.

I have experienced two births and both were total shit. I agreed to the second bub with the hubby thinking that “they” (you know as in “they say that….”) were right in that the second one was quicker and less painful than the first, which was excruciating. If someone had handed me a loaded gun I would have pulled the trigger to stop the pain. Both times. Did I mention the midwife called me a drama queen?? Birth One. Birth Plan: a) to get through it with as little pain relief as possible. I was very open to gas, a...

Nowhere for me and my anger.

Edvard Munch “The Scream”, 1902  I am angry and I have nowhere to vent my anger. I find I am taking it out on my family when I should be rejoicing that they are alive and with me. My patience is at an all time low – I am yelling at my children for no good reason whatsoever, things that they cant help, and I think I am just about ready to snap. I need to get it out, cleanse my system of this wretched angst. I wish I was an American. I wish I could take all my pent up...

Radio Pranks Calls – WARNING: ranty pants on!

You know what totally shits me? Prank phone calls on the radio. How old are we?  12??  Do we STILL think its funny to mess with peoples emotions and feelings in a negative and hurtful way? I live in a tiny country town and we only get one radio station with “modern”” music (unless you count triple J and I don’t.) Every morning as I am taking G Man to school they have this segment where they think its totally hilarious to call some poor unassuming person and play a practical “joke” on them. I use the word joke fairly loosely...

Linky Blog – I Heart my Body

Linking up with We Heart Life to celebrate our own body love.   All my life I have always been slender. “Aren’t you skinny??” would be one of the first things people would say about me, to me. I never knew how to react. I guess it was a compliment but sometimes there was a hint of a sneer, an unasked question of my health, an insinuation that perhaps I should be eating more. I have never had an eating disorder, never purged or vomited. Never even crossed mine or my parents mind – I just had a fast...

I had a person….

I had a person.  A Christina to my Meredith.  We were both only children and yet we were each others sister. We had known each other since my Dad accosted her on my first day of High School at the train station. She was wearing my school uniform and my Dad asked her if she would “take me to school”. She had been riding the rails solo for many years and Im not sure what she thought of me needing an escort. Even though she was still in Junior School and it was my first year in High School, she showed...
