Rising six and breaking hearts.

This is our G Man. He is now rising six. He is a little sweetheart, our good child, our angel. He loves to have rules to follow and is eager to please. We have never had to discipline him, so very different to his little brother who is just plain mischief and pushes all our buttons! He has severe dyspraxia which we initially thought was ASD and we had him assessed when he was three. Some of the traits which led us to these thoughts were behaviours brought on by his inability to communicate  due to his dyspraxia; shyness,...

Losing my Tradition

As the Australia Day long weekend finishes, I am thinking that one of the things I miss most about moving house all the time , is not having any traditions anymore. It really does suck.   When I was a little girl, we lived in the same house until I was thirteen and my parents split up. Even though it all changed that year, I have such beautiful and fond memories of our family traditions until then.   Our Christmas tree that we had selected fresh each year always stood in the same spot. We celebrated Christmas with the same people...

Bali – you paid how much??

So I thought I would do a post on some of the things I bought whilst in Bali and how much I paid for them – you know, as a guide for newbies going soon. To start with, the golden rule: don’t forget the polite bartering etiquette. If you start to barter and the seller eventually agrees to your price, you must buy the item. It is considered very rude to engage in the bartering process and then not purchase the item if the seller agrees to your price. Believe me, things can get rude and a tad hairy...

Behind the scenes – Don’t let comparison steal your joy.

Recently I saw some blog posts from some absolutely gorgeous bloggers (not naming names) showing off parts of their houses that I would never dream of showing you in full of my house. There were kitchens, laundry’s, the insides of their FRIDGES FFS!! They were so embarrassed to show them, as in “please forgive my beautiful mess” but guess what?? They were perfect. No mess in sight. Well, nothing that I would call mess. You could hear me fake gagging as I read the posts, rolling my eyes and thinking Bitch,  Puh-LEASE!!   Now I could feel bad and...

I want a pink one so badly it hurts.

Today is Thursday. This means I have 4 days to contemplate a family of five before starting another cycle. Then there are three more cycles before my 40th birthday which for some reason is when the deadline in my head is to stop contemplating it any further and just accept we are complete as a family of four. And we are complete. At least I thought so. I would have driven hubby down to get the snip myself a few months ago I was so sure. Having been an only child myself, I was always set on the idea...

Marrying Mr Point Five

So if you have loved me long time, you will know how I met Mr Point Five. If you are a newbie, you can catch up on the story here – its worth it, I’ll wait. Then there is the story of how we got engaged I proposed to him. Yep, I’ll wait again…… It was April when I popped the question and we were officially affianced. Upon consultation with my best friend at the time (sad story you can read here) who was a pharmacist, and of course asking google as well, we made the decision to go off...

Things I learned on my Weekend :)

So, we had my gorgeous Mum and her husband down for the weekend to stay with us for the night.  These are some things I have learned. 1. Sleeping with your husband and your five year old in your five year olds bedroom was NEVER going to ensure a decent nights sleep. 2. Whoever invented the blow up mattress should be shot – farking stoopidest sleep depriving invention ever. Turn, Crackle, Roll, Crunch, Turn, Crackle…..Does. My. Head. In. After listening to G Man for just over two hours I woke him up and told him to get into the double...

Today I left my Husband….

I left Mr Point Five today. For an hour. If I hadn’t, I would have picked the fight from hell and he didn’t deserve that. I left an hour early for school pick up and sat in the car. I had a magazine to read, one that I hadn’t managed to do more than skim through the headlines for the past two months, but to be honest I just sat there. I sat with the windows down and breathed in the sunshine and the gum trees. I gazed at the wisps of clouds in the sky and watched the branches dance in the light...

Rising Five

This Little BIG Boy….. This is G Man who is rising five. Over the past few weeks it seems he has grown so much, it makes my heart swell with pride. But lately, every time we call him our little boy, little angel, little guy, little lamb in conversation, he immediately corrects us with “I’m not little, I’m a BIG BOY. Every. Single. Time. Doesn’t miss a beat. This coming from my sweet baby, who still needs a band-aid for a sore finger breaks my heart. When did he get so big and how does he know, just now, that he...

How it rolls to go out in our house – sigh…..

So, I posted a picture of our lovely day at the lake a few weeks back.  What I didn’t post was what goes on in our house to get us there. I didn’t think much of it as it is a regular occurrence if we go anywhere as a family or host family occasions, but I am in this mothers group on facebook and one of them was having a gripe over pretty much what happens all the time with us.  What surprised me was how many girls had the same story and how frustrating we all found it to be.  One said that it was...
