A branch from my Family Tree

I love local history. Mr Point Five is fascinated with Ancient History and can watch hours of Roman/Medieval documentaries, but me, as soon as we moved here I was instantly into the Shire Office to suss out our towns past. I wanted to know how our town came to be and see the faces of the people who built it with their bare hands. I love seeing the old homes/businesses that are still standing and I LOVE living in one of the original town historical buildings which is over 120 years old. I love wandering around our house and...

Five towns in Seven years.

When people first find out my husband is a police officer of of the first questions they generally ask is Ohhhhh, what’s that like?? To be honest I don’t exactly know how to answer them. I don’t know what they want to hear. Stories about handcuffs and drug deals gone bad? We have only ever lived country since Mr Point Five joined up; we have never lived in the city as a police couple. My only experience of being a his Wife was as a country coppers wife as we got married at our first posting 1700km away from...

Pawthos in Pictures; 2006-2014

Not long after Mr Point Five and I met we were at the shops and there was a sign for a Jack Russell in the window of a pet store. Hubby turned to me and said with these puppy eyes I have always wanted a Jack Russell and I know what I would call him: Pawthos. Needless to say, we came to the shops sans canine and went home with an extra heart on board. Scuse the grainy pics – these were taken on my not so smart phone back in...

#policewifelife

So I have some uber good news to share with you guys. Yesterday Mr Point Five was accepted in the Sergeants Pool for WAPOL (Western Australian Police). I know that term is kinda obtuse so I will explain what it means. How Police promotion works in WAPOL  is that some ranks are time based, such as becoming a First Class Constable after five years of service (hubby’s current rank) and a Senior Constable after nine. After Senior Constable there is the rank of Sergeant.  A First Class Constable or a Senior Constable can apply for Sergeant. This annual promotion is achieved through putting in...

Are you a Good Mum? Yes, you ARE!

So G Man has made a little friend at school whose name is Sam. Sam lives with his Mum, Dad and three sisters just out of town and has had a few sleep overs here with the boys. Its the first time I have had another child stay with us and I had to laugh when I had his Mum over for a cuppa a few days back and she said how much Sam liked staying here – cos he got a picnic for dinner! I mean, I know G Mans dinners are not quite the norm, but I...

Our whirlwind Hopetoun Holiday

So for those who don’t know, Mr Point Five is acting up in Hopetoun for three weeks. Acting up is the term used when you relieve another officer who holds a higher position to you. And by relieve I mean do their job whilst they are on holiday; get your minds out of the gutter Hubby is acting up as the OIC and was working 10 days straight so the kids and I used the excuse to get away to see him for the weekend for a mini-holiday just now. Also because Master J was beginning to tell his daycare that...

Lego Table TP5K style

See that Lego bag in the bottom right hand corner, designed to keep your Lego contained and neat and tidy? Yep, well not three days later it inevitably ends up like the picture below, which was taken this morning.   The boys always end up on the floor ferreting through it to find the pieces they want and it NEVER stays in the bastard bag. EVER. Then there is the song-and-dance routine to get the boys to clear it all up back into the bag; this starts with me nagging and saying well, if you didn’t let it...

What if Today was the last day you had?

I was watching the News last night and I haven’t been able to stop thinking today about one of the stories. It was about a young man who got pushed out of a window in a Pub and died. Over a year later, his parents were being interviewed. They said “we love our son more deeply now than we ever have“. I cant stop those words going round and round in my head. How sad is it that you can love your child more when they are gone? I want to love my child to the absolute height,...

Our Easter Tree

This will be the fourth year we have done an Easter Tree. I had never heard of them until I met my first husband whose sister had married a German fella – apparently Easter Trees are a common European Tradition and if you google the term Easter Tree you will find heaps; all based on using a twiggy branch and decorating with eggs. I thought it would be a nice tradition to do once we had kids, and so on the second weekend before Easter we put up our Easter Tree with much anticipation and delight. It is where we...

Choose Happiness

I remember reading a facebook status by another mummy blogger a few months ago about her saying just how frustrating the time of day between dinner and bedtime is and how it was completely doing her head in. She was just about to lose it with not being able to do anything she wanted to do and was just willing the clock to say it was bedtime for the kids. I remember  nodding and sympathising, cos it shits me too a lot of the time too and then I had an parenting epiphany of epic proportions. You just have...
