A Drama Queen lives here – my birth stories.

I have experienced two births and both were total shit. I agreed to the second bub with the hubby thinking that “they” (you know as in “they say that….”) were right in that the second one was quicker and less painful than the first, which was excruciating. If someone had handed me a loaded gun I would have pulled the trigger to stop the pain. Both times. Did I mention the midwife called me a drama queen?? Birth One. Birth Plan: a) to get through it with as little pain relief as possible. I was very open to gas, a...

Twas a week before Christmas…and I forgot my damned list!

What a Mind Fart of a day! Left home at 8:50am with the two kids, minus the husband, for the 90km drive to Albany for G Mans weekly speech therapy appointment at 10am. Also on the agenda is the entire grocery shop for Christmas Day, but I was smart – I had done a LIST comprising the menu and itemised and grouped into sections of the shop. Clever me. We also  had to stop by the grog shop for essentials as well as Spotlight because I wanted to make THIS! Spotlight is next to Officeworks and hubby needs a...

TROUBLE with a capital J!

This little boy is trouble! Thursday nights in Cranbrook the Sports Club does Fish and Chips. Its the only place in town to eat apart from the pub which is overpriced and underspiced so we go every week if hubby isn’t working. Mr Point Five says its my “night off”  – isn’t he chivalrous??!? Now some may ask why I don’t just go with the boys, even if Hubby is working and to that I say  ARE YOU FREAKING CRAZY??? Do you not remember THIS from early this year??? Yeah well, he is still that same boy – TROUBLE – and I wouldnt go sans hubby if you...

A Day at the Circus.

Yesterday we took the kids to the Circus.  I was going to go on my own with the pair of them but fortunately Mr Point Fives roster changed at the last minute and we could go as a family of four. All I can say is Thank Christ his roster changed and What the heck was I thinking, contemplating taking them on my own?? Insanity!! We get there, find our seats and immediately THAT SMELL starts to permeate the air. I had done a nappy change of Master J in the carpark before we came in but NOOOOO, that would have been too...

Fields of Gold in my Backyard

I have been in love with the colour yellow for a very long time. You cannot possibly be grumpy whilst standing in a field of yellow. Yellow makes me smile. If I won the lotto, I would buy a lemon-yellow Monaro. I sniff with delight when the first, if a little overenthusiastic, wattle tree comes into bloom in late winter and gape in amazement for the rest of spring at her glory and beauty. I could drink in the blooms forever, the soft powder puffs nuzzled against my cheek. I would fill my house with them, if thy would...

Our Holiday – Part Three: the way home.

At the end of the Onslow driveway – left to where we used to live, or right towards home? So, after 10 days of living in the in-laws pockets we are on our way home. With the in-laws. Yep. They had to drive down to Perth and so we coordinated this part of our trip to piggy back down the coast with them. My poor Mother-in-law. She left the accommodation up to me and I married her son…. Who is a tight arse and wouldnt let me book anywhere good.  So you saw her house and all her pretties...

Our Holiday – Part Two – 10 days in Onslow.

So Day one at Onslow we hit the beach. My boys have only ever seen the beach once, last November so this was a novelty and they both adored it! Master J was a little hesitant of the water to start with and clung to his bucket and spade on the beach but G Man happily frolicked on the shore and wasnt interested much in making sandcastles. Above are some of the special effects our camera does – pretty speccy huh? The salt jetty is long and makes for a pretty awesome backdrop Day 2 we went out...

Our Holiday – Part One: from Home to the in-laws place.

See the pin that says A?? That’s where we live. In Cranbrook, WA, population: approx 600. Now pin B is where hubby’s parents live, Onslow, WA population: approx 700. Distance between is just over 1700km according to google maps. I’m not sure when the fairy of insanity visited us and put the idea of a massive road trip with two small children on the cards when we were actually planning a cruise to Bali instead but visit she did, and off we went in early August for three whole weeks! The Adventra was packed to the rafters with the Two...

One plus one = FIVE???

I am sure you have all uttered the words together before, usually when you have had a few too many wines or your kids are doing something really sweet, like oh I don’t know….sleeping.  The words that go “Gee we make cute babies” Sigh. “It would almost be criminal not to have another” And then you look at each other and laugh hysterically at the thought of going through all that again, knowing that you are both happy with our family of four. That’s one each. Perfect. Done. But then you are home one day telling your hubby about...

A few delicious Minutes in Bed…

Yesterday I got a lie-in. It happens once a week to ten days depending on Mr Point Fives roster. I didn’t actually go back to sleep after hubby got up to the kids at twenty to seven. This is an example of where Mr Point Five and I are different. He gets up when he wakes up, even if it is his turn to sleep in. I, on the other-hand, am not insane.   I lie there listening to my loved ones do their thing without me. I hear hubby settling the predictable argument of what goes on the kids TV pre...
