R-E-S-P-E-C-T; find out what it means to me.
I can’t remember what site I read it on now, but it was a facebook status from someone who was driving, running late and her child asked why she wasn’t going faster to get where they needed to go? She replied that the Police could be hiding anywhere and it was best not to speed in case you got caught. Turns out no less than 5 minutes after this conversation the Police did turn up and stopped her for a random breath test; all clear and good to go. The kids were ecstatic; “that’s amazing Mum, and now I can...
Fathers Day Giveaway – Marie O’Neill Pop Portrait
This is a giveaway that has been brewing for over a year now and I am so excited to be able to offer it to you! In May last year I saw this post from BabyMac closely followed by this post from Mrs Woog at Woogsworld. Having seen online photos of both of them across the years I could really appreciate how Marie from Marie O’Neill Design & Illustrations absolutely nailed the pop art similarities of all the family members. Well, not Mr Woog because NOONE has ever seen him, but the rest were spot on! I emailed her...
Why I am a Helicopter Mum
Something I have been thinking about lately is the fact that Mr Point Five and I are helicopter parents. For better or worse we tend to wrap our boys in cotton wool and be over cautious with them and what they do. Despite other neighbourhood kids doing the same, our boys have not ridden their bikes down our street without me standing/sitting at the bottom of our drive to watch their every move. I accompany them to the skate park. I refuse to let them go on the school bus with the other kids to the next town up...

He is only five….five towns, five houses.
This is our Master J last week. He is Five years old. This is his fifth town and fifth house he has lived in. Sometimes I forget that, and everything it entails. Tonight Mr Point Five and I are relaxing, watching The Americans with a beer and a glass of wine. Master J was up and down like a frog in a sock from bedtime on. “I cant sleep. My foot is itchy. I miss my dummy. I need a glass of #8221; All of these were met with a sigh of exasperation and eventually, an hour and a half after...
The honeymoon is over….
So the holidays are over, school went back today and I am still unemployed. Today has been the first day that I have dropped the boys to school and come home all by myself. I have to say I didn’t like it and I am busting to get back to work. I feel like a bludger being at home and I have no tolerance for housework. Mr Point Five is at a conference in a neighbouring town for the next two days and I am aimlessly wandering around at home. There are crafty things I COULD be doing but I...
I want to win THIS! #enterdontenter
I was recently approached by Flowers for Everyone to help them promote their Valentines Day Love Cave Competition. I thought oh yes, everyone loves a good Valentines Flower competition, I’ll enter it and then spread the joy to my readers so that they can have a shot at winning a bunch of token roses for Valentines Day. But then I clicked on the link. Oh MY!!!! Yep. You get a shot at winning THIS! For TWO freaking nights! I nearly emailed back and said Nah mate, its OK, the less people who enter this baby the better my odds are of...

Because he’s mine, I walk this line.
One of the aspects of Mr Point Fives job that I take very seriously, is the fact that he makes an enormous impact on the lives of others. When his phone goes at 1am I am acutely aware he is leaving us; more than likely to rescue a beaten woman and her children from her enraged and drunk husband, to pull a barely breathing body from a car wreck and start CPR until the ambulance arrives, to stop someone from taking their own life who had called the police in a last ditch effort to save themselves or any other number...
Living starts NOW!
We are here! Due to Master J’s perfectly awful stress hives/bedwetting regression/unsettled behaviour from the past three months of upheaval and uncertainty, the boys and I left Mr Point Five up in our old town to sort out the packers whilst we drove 650km to Perth three days early with a trailer and a screaming cat. Half way down when we stopped for fuel, I received a call on my messagebank from the cattery which was left two hours earlier, wondering what time we were arriving as they were about to close. After a flurry of messages to, and...
